Part of the 30-hour training or a stand alone program, content includes the history of gambling, definitions of gambling and compulsive gambling, the role of money, compulsive gambling prevalence rates statewide and nationally, the five types of gamblers, profiles of compulsive gamblers, progression for compulsive gamblers and their spouses, phases of compulsive gambling, review of compulsive gambling diagnosis from the DSM-IV, and review of available services throughout NYS including treatment, prevention and self-help.
