Appropriate for human service professionals, school personnel, parents, etc. this training is an introduction to adolescent problem gambling in NYS. Participants will learn about why gambling is particularly risky for youth and warning signs of problem/ compulsive gambling.

Learn about both the environmental factors affecting problem gambling and the strategies that can be used in prevention. Participants will analyze how the media, accessibility and lack of enforcement are influencing the issue and review specific examples of how this alcohol and other drug prevention model can be applied to problem gambling prevention.

Begin processing how to promote the problem gambling prevention program in your community. Participants will learn about the Strategic Prevention Framework and how to apply it to community level program planning while still meeting OASAS requirements. Utilize an informal planning guide, which poses questions for participants to consider about their program.
