Please join us for the 15th Annual Conference on Problem Gambling on October 1 & 2nd in Albany, NY!  We look forward to hearing from an array of top notch speakers on topics such as responsible gambling, gambling expansion, problem gambling prevention, technology utilized in the field, treatment and recovery. Speakers this year are coming from as far as Australia and we are joined by National leaders in the field of problem gambling.  This conference is appropriate for problem gambling, alcohol and substance abuse professionals as well as gambling industry staff, state officials, other human service professionals and individual and family members in recovery.  We look forward to seeing you in October!






Natasha Dow Schüll, Ph.D.

Machine Technology and Responsible Gambling

Natasha Dow Schüll is a cultural anthropologist and associate professor at MIT’s Program in Science, Technology, and Society. Her new book, Addiction by Design: Machine Gambling in Las Vegas (Princeton University Press 2012), draws on extended fieldwork among compulsive gamblers and the designers of the slot machines they play to explore the relationship between technology design and the experience of addiction. Her work has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the Woodrow Wilson Foundation, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. 

Jon E. Grant, JD, MD, MPH

Gambling and other Addictive Disorders

Professor Grant is a Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Chicago, where he also supervises an outpatient clinic for addictive-impulsive-compulsive disorders. Professor Grant is the author of ten books on impulsive and compulsive behaviors and over 275 peer-reviewed scientific articles. He is the Director of a Center of Excellence in Gambling Research supported by the National Center for Responsible Gaming and editor in chief of the Journal of Gambling Studies.
